Yoga-Ayurvedic Massage is a way of working the body and mind from the combination of two ancient disciplines: Ayurveda and Yoga.

This massage was developed in India by Kusum Modak, who verified the beneficial effects that yoga brought him and decided to incorporate stretching based on Yoga asanas to Ayurveda Abhyanga Massage.

What is Yoga-Ayurvedic Massage?

The Yoga-Ayurvedic Massage constitutes a novel approach in corporal work (bodywork). It has been conceived to reach the deepest muscular levels, thus allowing to undo the body blockages that can be formed because of emotions that have not been released and that manifest themselves at the physical level in the form of contractures, pain and stiffness. It is a massage that aims to find our natural balance at all levels: physical, mental, and emotional.

Yoga-Ayurvedic Massage is performed on a mat on the floor, allowing freedom and a full range of motion. Deep tissue work (decontracting massage) helps remove knots and adhesions in the muscles, releases tension, and prepares the body for stretching. Through synchronized breathing, the receiver is drawn progressively deeper into assisted yoga postures, which help correct postural imbalances and restore harmony to the body.

These techniques incorporate the use of the hands and feet as tools for massage. Using your feet allows for deeper pressure through long, graceful glides. For the application of massage, the use of organic oils and vekhand (calamus powder) are combined, which stimulates blood circulation and helps eliminate toxins.
